RSA MEMBERSHIP OFFER TO GOODENOUGH ALUMNI
Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce - RSA
The RSA is offering all Goodenough College alumni the opportunity to become a Fellow of the RSA with the joining fee waived and no sponsor required. For over 250 years the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce has been a cradle of enlightenment thinking and a force for social progress. Its approach is multi-disciplinary, politically independent and combines cutting edge research and policy development with practical action. The RSA encourages public discourse and critical debate by providing platforms for leading experts to share new ideas on contemporary issues. RSA projects generate new models for tackling the social challenges of today and their work is supported by a 27,500 strong Fellowship - achievers and influencers from every field with a real commitment to progressive social change.
At the Society's House in John Adam Street, London there is a modern library with free wireless internet, a bar and restaurant, conference facilities and an unrivalled lecture programme available to all Fellows. Located in the heart of London, just behind the Strand, the House was designed especially for the Society by Robert Adam in the early 1770s. Today the Georgian façade conceals many unexpected delights of both contemporary as well as traditional architecture. Boardrooms, theatres and subterranean vaults offer a unique place to meet in the heart of London. Since its foundation in 1754, the RSA has always encouraged new ideas. It is, however, only possible to shape the future on the experience of the past, and the Society's House, which it commissioned in 1772, reflects this philosophy in a confident mix of the best modern design with inherited design.
